Good afternoon Bucknuts subscribers! There is plenty going on with Ohio State football recruiting so let’s get started! I will of course have plenty more throughout the night and tomorrow.
1) Earlier this week I posted an update with the latest on one top 2023 Ohio prospect, lineman Luke Montgomery from Findlay. The 6-foot-5 and 260-pound Montgomery is a football and basketball star at Findlay who was a varsity starter in football as a freshman and came off the bench on the hoops team. Montgomery played defensive end and made 40 tackles including five sacks and 12 tackles for loss. Montgomery was planning to visit Ohio State during their spring practice sessions this year, but could not because the coronavirus shut things down. Montgomery remains very interested in Ohio State.
Brenan Vernon from Mentor is another top 2023 Ohioan who also is definitely interested in and staying in contact with the Buckeyes.
“I have, yes,” Vernon said when asked if he has been staying in contact with the Buckeyes this summer. “Coach (Larry) Hinton, (coach Larry) Johnson, and (coach Ryan) Day here and there. It’s going well.”
Vernon was planning to go to a few Ohio State spring practices as well as the Buckeyes’ spring game before everything was shut down.
The 6-foot-5 and 245-pound Vernon has an early scholarship list of at least 10 schools including Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, West Virginia, Nebraska, Kentucky, Indiana, Cincinnati, Duke and Kent State.
