The Detroit Tigers have signed No. 1 overall pick Spencer Torkelson, according to the team.
With Torkelson’s signing, all six players from the team’s 2020 MLB draft class are under contract.
Torkelson’s signing bonus was $8,416,300, according to MLB.com’s Jim Callis, which counts as the largest signing bonus under the current draft format. The slot value for the No. 1 overall pick is $8,415,300 — Torkelson signed for $1,000 more.
Torkelson, 21, is expected to be added to the Tigers’ 60-man player pool and training with the team during their upcoming training camp in Detroit.
