Boris Johnson and Emmanuel Macron watch The Red Arrows and Patrouille de France flypast

The Crimson Arrows and their French counterparts, La Patrouille de France, carry out a flypast over Westminster to mark 80 years since Charles De Gaulle’s historic broadcast to Occupied France from London.

French President Emmanuel Macron in the present day praised Winston Churchill and the Royal Household for offering “resistance and hope” throughout the darkest days of the Second World Struggle.

He gave a rousing speech commemorating 80 years since Charles de Gaulle gave a well-known handle on the BBC which started the French Resistance, earlier than watching the Crimson Arrows and La Patrouille do a flypast.
