Singer August Alsina claims he had a love affair with Jada Pinkett Smith â after her husband, Will Smith, allegedly gave the relationship his blessing.
While reps for Pinkett say Alsinaâs claims are âabsolutely not true,â he has opened up on the alleged affair in an interview with âThe Breakfast Clubâsâ Angela Yee.
He claims, âI actually sat down with Will [Smith] and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership ⦠he gave me his blessing.â
Alsina, 27, was introduced to Pinkett, 48, in 2015 by her son Jaden. He says the two became very close, even vacationing with the family in Hawaii in 2016 and attending the 2017 BET Awards together.
He claims he fell in love with Pinkett, saying âI totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it â so much so to the point that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.â
âAnd I really loved a person, I experienced that and I know what that feels like â and some people never get that in this lifetime,â Alsina continued. â I know that I am completely blessed and this conversation is difficult because it is so much, that it would be hard for people to understand but â once it starts to affect me and my livelihood â I have to speak up about my truth.â
Alsina even went on to describe Pinkett as âGodâs divinityâ on her 47th birthday. It is not clear when their alleged affair ended.
The interview is for Alsinaâs new YouTube doc âStateofEMERGEncy: The Rise of August Alsinaâ to promote his new album âThe Product III:stateofEMERGEncy.â
During the interview, Yee questioned, âIs it disappointing that she [Pinkett] never addressed it to you, because like you said, you lost out on opportunities?â
âI really canât even get into the thought of that because I am only responsible for myself, right,â Alsina responded. âAnd I am only responsible for, you know. what I do. When I am repressing and suppressing things and it starts to affect me. I have to address it. I just always stay solid because I never want to be the person to start confusion.â
New Orleans native Alsinaâs 2009 song âNunya,â which sparked speculation it was about Pinkett with lines like âWhy is you textin me / Asking who next to me / Why you care about who having sex with me / Now you all on my line, why you pressing me?â
During the interview Alsina also revealed, âContrary to what people may believe, I am not a troublemaker. I donât like drama. Drama actually makes me nauseous.
âAnd I also donât think that it is ever important for people to know what I do, who I sleep with, who I date ⦠but in this instance it is very different because as I said, there are so many people that are sid-eyeing me, looking at me questionable [sic].
âI have lost money, friendships, relationships behind it and I think it is because people donât necessarily know the truth. But I have never done anything wrong.â
He added of the Smith family, âI love those people literally like my family. I donât have a bad thing to say about them. They are beautiful people.â
We reached out to Jada Pinkett Smithâs representative, who responded, âAbsolutely not true!!â
