After Raising $190,000 in Bitcoin, Bitcasino Doubled Down for COVID-19 with Charity Poker

Fresh from the success of the May 5th D3 virtual aid concert in commemoration of the global Giving Tuesday event, crypto gaming platform Bitcasino continued its collaboration with The Giving Block, teaming up with the Pioneer Club to launch yet another charity event in support of the worldwide COVID-19 relief efforts: the No Limit Hold’em Charity Poker Tournament.

The event, which kicked off at 5 pm UTC on Saturday, May 16th, 2020, was done with the exclusive platform partner named Bitcasino. Drawing in scores of enthusiastic poker players from the blockchain sector, the host now also plans to schedule more similar tournaments, hoping to capitalize on the willingness of some of the most prominent names in the industry, including the likes of Litecoin founder Charlie Lee and Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey —  all to raise even more money to support the cause.

The weekend Charity Poker Tournament sponsor organization, Binance Charity, pledged to match all funds raised at a 2:1 ratio, effectively tripling any amount donated through the event. Bitcasino itself set aside an even amount of matched funding up to $10,000. Director of Casino Tauri Tiitsaar reiterated the message of solidarity that the company has been communicating in all its past efforts, saying:

“Now’s the time to band together with both the crypto community in support of those who are most vulnerable to the threat of COVID-19. After a series of successful charity campaigns and more to come, we hope to show the world how generous our crypto community is and how crypto can be used for positive change.”

Having already raised 20 BTC valued at approximately $190,000 in its own ‘Crypto vs Covid’ campaign together with the Bitcasino community, the gaming portal continues to prove that the cryptosphere is united behind the global cause and eager to do its part in helping the planet overcome this shared crisis. In donating their unused Loyalty Points, Bitcasino users saw all their individual contributions matched by the casino management, in cooperation with crypto-centric fundraising platform The Giving Block.

Worldwide, this was the third charity poker tournament of its kind and Bitcasino was pleased to finally be involved with this edition, hoping to make similar waves with the previous two, that managed to attract more than 50 of the biggest names and influencers in the crypto space.

The entry fee to the tournament, only $100, was payable directly with card or with crypto in BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH, USDC, and DAI via the Pioneer Club portal. Players could choose other options if they preferred to pay with Bitcoin via SatStreet, and were also able to log their purchase via Event Brite.
